Envy: The Hidden Witchcraft

"Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before envy?”Proverbs 27:4 (KJV)

Wrath and anger may destroy quickly, but envy destroys silently. The Bible places envy and jealousy in the same destructive company as witchcraft. Though Scripture does not directly call jealousy witchcraft, it shows that both come from the same devilish source and bring ruin to the people of God.

πŸ“– Verse of the Day

“Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.”Galatians 5:26 (KJV)

🌱 Reflection
Envy is more than wanting someone’s success — it is resenting them for it and even wishing their downfall. Paul placed witchcraft, emulations (jealousy), and envyings in the same list of fleshly works (Galatians 5:19–21), showing how these spirits run side by side. James also called envy “devilish” and warned that it brings “confusion and every evil work” (James 3:16).

So while jealousy itself is not rebellion (which Scripture directly equates to witchcraft, 1 Samuel 15:23), it still operates in the same destructive atmosphere as witchcraft — manipulating, dividing, and poisoning hearts. The Lord Jesus Christ never compared Himself with others, and neither should His people. To walk in envy is to walk near the shadow of witchcraft; to walk in love is to remain in the light of Christ.

πŸ“Œ  “Jealousy and strife are tools of the devil to tear the church apart.”Church Order, Dec 26, 1963, Jeffersonville. William Branham.

🎯 Takeaway

Where envy is tolerated, witchcraft has room to work. But where love rules, Christ is enthroned.

πŸ™ Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, deliver me from hidden envy. Teach me to rejoice in others’ blessings without bitterness or comparison. Guard my heart from the snares of jealousy and the shadow of witchcraft. Keep me rooted in Your love, where envy cannot live. Amen.
