"He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.” — Psalm 7:15 (KJV)
The bagworm moth (Psychidae) is a living illustration of an old West African adage: “The worm that gathers leaves, trees, and all they can gather will always carry it by themselves.”
The larva builds a bag out of everything it can gather — sticks, leaves, sand, and debris. It carries the bag on its own back all its life. The more it gathers, the heavier and more conspicuous the bag becomes. In the process, it hides itself completely under the weight of what it has collected.
Spiritually, it’s a vivid metaphor: those who go to every length — spiritually, physically, or diabolically to harm others are, in reality, building their own bag. Every evil deed, curse, or manipulation becomes a load they must carry themselves. Instead of glory, they end up covered by the very things they gathered - hidden under their own schemes, their destiny and light dimmed by their secret works. Like the bagworm, they carry not just their “cover” but also their judgment.
That’s why the Scriptures say, “He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made” (Psalm 7:15 KJV). Evil ultimately recoils on its maker.
Come with me to the verse of the day!
π Verse of the Day
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” — Galatians 6:7 (KJV)
✍️ Topic: The Load of Evil
π± Reflection
Every seed brings its harvest. The bagworm covers itself with what it gathers, but in doing so, it hides its own light. In the same way, those who dig pits for others fall into them. Those who sow envy, curses, and harm reap confusion and sorrow for themselves. “Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same” (Job 4:8 KJV). The wicked may set nets for others, but “the heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they hid is their own foot taken” (Psalm 9:15 KJV).
The Lord Jesus Christ teaches us not to avenge ourselves. “Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord” (Romans 12:19 KJV). If we keep our hearts clean, the traps of the enemy will become their own snare.
π William Branham once said, “You reap what you sow. And when you do evil, you can’t get by with it. Somewhere, sometime, it’ll come back to you.” — Thirst, Jul 19, 1965, Jeffersonville, IN
π― Takeaway
Those who carry evil against others are only loading themselves. Stay free of bitterness. Sow love, sow prayer, sow Christ — and let God deal with the weight of the wicked.
π Prayer
| For those who have done evil (Repentance) | For those under diabolical attack (Deliverance) |
|---|---|
| • Lord Jesus Christ, I confess my sin of envy, jealousy, manipulation, and harm. | • Lord Jesus Christ, deliver me from every household wickedness, churchhood wickedness, and workplace wickedness that has eaten deeply into any area of my life. |
| • Forgive me for every plot or action that has hurt another person. | • Break every chain of wickedness that has been sent against me. |
| • Remove the burden of evil from my life and wash me in Your blood. | • Cover me and my household with Your blood and restore my peace. |
| • Break every chain I have forged by my own words and deeds. | • Turn every evil spoken or done against me back to nothingness. |
| • Give me a clean heart and teach me to sow love instead of hatred. | • Strengthen me in prayer and in the Word so that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. |
